This soothing, light pressure massage therapy is very relaxing and supports healthy lymph fluid circulation.  The lymphatic system manages the body’s immune responses, however it is not self-propelling and relies on the body’s neighbouring blood circulation to move it along.  At times, particularly following injury, infection or cancer treatments, the lymphatic system may work less efficiently,  tissues may then retain fluid, resulting in swollen limbs.  Manual lymphatic drainage massage, also known as MLD or Oncology massage, works by waking up lymph nodes and assisting the body to naturally re-absorb lymphatic fluid to reduce swelling.

What can you expect from your MLD massage treatment? 

We will complete a health consultation form together confidentially to ensure all your important background information is gathered.  Moving on from this, I will work with you, personalising your treatment to suit your needs, and making sure you are comfortable and relaxed in order to gain the most benefit from each session.

Your massage will be a gentle, well-being booster.  Having relaxation as its base, your session will  consist of a steady, gentle massage treatment that will promote the healthy function of your lymphatic system.

It is also important to note that you may need to use the loo a little more frequently directly after your massage, this is a useful indicator that the treatment has worked well, clearing the excess fluid from your body.

This massage treatment is generally suitable for everyone, however if you are receiving cancer treatment it is useful for you to check in with your medical team before your session.
